Paddy Padmanathan

Senior Adviser

Paddy Padmanathan is a Senior Adviser to Permira’s climate investing team.

Former President and CEO of ACWA Power, Paddy Padmanathan brings over 35 years of leadership experience in power and renewables development, as well as a strong global network.

Paddy joined ACWA in 2006, one year after the company was founded, completing the development of the first project as a consultant and being appointed as President & CEO within 18 months. He successfully guided the company to its current position as a leading developer, investor, and operator of power and renewables generation, water desalination, and green hydrogen plants.

From 1992 to 2001, he worked in Black & Veatch Africa (named Burrow Binnie International Ltd until 1995), initially based in Swaziland, Africa as Executive Director until 1995 and then South Africa as Chief Executive until 2001. He then joined Black & Veatch Limited in the UK as Corporate Office and Vice President. He personally led the first and only green field utility services development and Algeria's first privately financed utility service contract.

Paddy also worked at John Burrow and Partners Overseas from 1981 to 2006, and is currently a majority shareholder with them. He advises and/or serves on the Board of Directors of several climate transition companies in the transmission, water, data center, and renewable energy sectors.

Qualifications

Paddy holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Manchester, England and Post Graduate Studies in Civil Engineering Production from University of Lancaster, England.
